Hand with Nokia 1100

Touch display, Electronics, Software, Plastic, Wood

2016

Dimensions variable

Viewers can interact with a touchscreen app that spins a 3D printed scan of a hand holding a Nokia 1100, the best selling cellphone of all time. The media archeological relic is mimicked and paralleled with newer technology using similar interactions (touch). This relationship with the body is frozen in time as a spinning 3D printed reproduction of the machine and body merging together. It is also presented in real-time as a mindless and simple interaction with an app, pushing the piece to the sense of pointless commodity having to be constantly upgraded.
